5/1/2007 - Weaver and Tidwell’s Alan Goldfarb Named to Board of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TEXAS (May 1 st, 2007) – Alan Goldfarb, CFP AIF MBA has been named to the board of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board), the professional regulatory body for the almost 55,000 professionals holding CFP ® certification. Goldfarb is the director of financial strategies for Weaver and Tidwell Financial Advisors.

The mission of CFP Board is to help people benefit from competent, professional and ethical financial planning. The organization awards the certification mark CFP – Certified Financial Planner – to professionals who successfully complete the CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.

As one of 12 national board members, Goldfarb will participate in CFP Board’s policy-making as well as oversee the operation of the organization’s disciplinary process and the development of the CFP certification examination, the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission and the Council on Examinations.

A Certified Financial Planner professional since 1978, Goldfarb is a recognized leader in the financial counseling industry who served as director of the nation’s first MBA in Financial Services program at the University of Dallas. His background includes extensive experience in investments, employee benefits, and estate planning. He has been named as a Top Financial Advisor by Worth Magazine five consecutive times as well as named Best Financial Planner and Wealth Manager in Dallas by D Magazine.

In addition to his recent board of directors appointment with CFP Board, Goldfarb serves as executive director of the Southwest Institute For Personal Financial Education at the University of Dallas; arbitrator and mediator with the American Arbitration Association; and board member of the Dallas Summer Musicals.
